Coruxa socks

Coruxa socks

£5.50
Sale price  £5.50 Regular price

The Coruxa socks are knitted with sport weight yarn, which makes them fast to knit and very warm, perfect to wear when you get home and you change into something warm and comfortable. They are knitted from the toe up and have a German short row heel. They have a ribbed fabric that will adapt to your foot and some simple cables to form the owls at the top. I have included links to videos that will help you with the techniques you need to make the toe and heel.

These sock match the Coruxa mitts. You can get a 10% discount if you buy both patterns.

MATERIALS

  • 3 mm (US 2.5} circular needles, either 80 cm / 32 in long (if you use the magic loop method), or 23 cm / 9 in (if you prefer short circulars) or DPNs (double-pointed needles). If you use short circular needles you’ll still need a long circular needle or DPNs for casting on and the toe increases until you have enough stitches to work comfortably on a shorter needle.
  • 1 removable or progress marker, cable needle, and tapestry needle.

YARN

180-230 m / 195-250 yards sport weight yarn (approx. 300 m / 328 yards per 100g). I used Feliz y Punto Merino Sport in the Etro Specked colourway.

The amount of yarn you’ll need will depend on your sock and shoe size. To give you an idea, I used 210 m for a size L (see below), UK5 / EU38 shoe size.

SIZES

These socks have a very stretchy ribbed fabric so they will adapt well to different foot sizes. They are home/bed socks so they’re a bit looser than usual.

In the pattern I give two sizes based on your foot circumference around the widest part of the foot (more or less where your foot bends when you tip-toe).

Size S (small): 18-21 cm / 7-8”
Size L (large): 22-26 cm / 9-10”

These sizes are based only on the width of your foot and not the length. Instructions are given in the pattern to adapt the length of your sock to fit you.

GAUGE

6.5 stitches and 8 rows in 2.5 cm (1”) in stockinette stitch in the round after blocking.
