Puntal

Puntal is a basic top-down sweater, knit in the round. It has 7 sizes for women and 7 sizes for men. The pattern has been written assuming you are a beginner knitter and you’ve never knitted a sweater before. I have added links to tutorials showing you how to do all the techniques you will need to complete your first sweater.

After the neckline, short rows are added to raise the back and increases are worked at either side of the sleeves. Then the sleeves and body are separated. You continue working on the body and later pick up the stitches left on hold for the sleeves and knit those from the underarm to the cuff. A colourful stripe is added to the yoke.

MATERIALS

• 4 mm (US 6) circular needles for the body and sleeves (adjust if necessary to achieve gauge)
  
• 3.75mm (US 5) circular needles for the ribbing (or a size smaller than the main needles)
  
• 4 markers in different colours (A-D) for the raglan increases and a special marker for BOR.
  
• tapestry needle and waste yarn to put the sleeve stitches on hold

Women: W1 (W2, W3, W4) W5, W6, W7
Men: M1 (M2, M3, M4) M5, M6, M7

How to choose your size: measure your bust circumference, add the ease recommended below (i.e. 10-15 cm / 4-6 inches for women and 5-10 cm / 2-4 inches for men) and find the finished circumference at bust measurement below that is closest to that figure. Make sure your gauge matches the one given below to ensure your finished garment will be the same dimensions.

GAUGE

19 stitches and 28 rounds in 10 cm with larger needles in stockinette st, in the round, after blocking.
