First, the top part of the back is knitted flat, then stitches are picked up along one shoulder to knit one side of the front and then the other, joining them together when the lower neck is reached. When both back and front reach the underarm, they’re are joined to start knitting the body in the round. Finally, stitches are picked up around the armholes and neck to work the ribbing. The vest has stripes in two colours with the ribbing in a contrasting colour, although, of course, this can be altered to your taste.
